PPOA RECEIVE BOARD MEMBERS
The Public Procurement Oversight Authority Advisory Board is composed of members appointed from professional bodies to provide leadership and advice the Authority as it endeavors to achieve the mandates stipulated in the Public Procurement and Disposal Act, 2005. The Advisory Board members have brought on board wealth of experience the Authority requires as it strives to ensure quality service delivery is rendered to the public.
During their three year term, the Advisory Board will focus on among key issues the review of the Procurement Law that has been in operation since 2007. PPOA has for the past five years collected views of stakeholders so as to improve the Public Procurement Systems in Kenya. Another issue will be devolving of PPOA services to the Counties through opening of Regional Offices to serve stakeholders on the ground in real time. This has been necessitated by the fact that Counties Governments are now taking shape and the services of PPOA will be required especially at a time when the Public Procurement and Disposal (County Regulations) 2013 has been developed to guide County Governments as they undertake their procurements.
The Board will also enforce the Debarment Process as provided for under Section 115 - 125 of the PPDA, 2005. This involves placing sanctions on errant suppliers to ensure such suppliers do not continue participating in the public procurement proceedings especially at a time when huge expenditures will be incurred towards development of the Counties Governments. The Advisory Board will ensure errant suppliers do not hinder development as the devolution agenda is under implemented.
